Happy Friday Ravenna Staff:

As what seems like another never ending week comes to an end, I would encourage all of us (myself included) to “keep the faith”.

“Nothing worthwhile that was ever accomplished was done so without hard work and perseverance”.

From the school business perspective, please know that myself and hundreds of Superintendents around the state are lobbying our legislators to push back the OAA tests another  few weeks because of the loss of instructional time due to snow days (unfortunately, the thought is that it is too late for OGT’s).  I believe that this may happen.  If so, we will communicate as soon as possible what a revised testing schedule may look like.  Stay tuned…

Have a great weekend!

Happy Valentine’s Day and President’s Day Ravenna Staff!

I would like to say that because we actually put in a full week (minus the students on Friday); it is encouraging that we could be out of the woods with the weather.  However, we have had the worst case scenario with cold mornings during the week and precipitation on the weekends.  Seems like we cannot catch a break!

I hope that everyone found the day worthwhile and productive.  Many compliments to Steve York and the technology department for their presentation.  Also, thank you to the dozens of you that actively participated in the presentation.  I believe we are continuing to head in the right direction!

We are really trying to target our assistance to teachers with regards to the feedback that I have received from the staff the past few years.  My hope is that “Align, Assess, Achieve” can fill in some of the gaps and tie everything together.  There is a lot of “stuff” hanging out there and as I have said from the beginning, we just need to bring those random acts of greatness together and get some continuity going.  None of us can do this by ourselves.  The days of just closing your door and teaching what you feel is best are long gone and never coming back.  We need to utilize each other’s expertise and lean on each other.

I hope everyone has a restful or productive long weekend.

Hello Ravenna Staff:

Just as I spoke last week about no calamity days, we get hit right away on Tuesday!  One would think I should know better!  Regardless, I hope everyone is starting to get back to routines and is continuing to move forward with your students.

I wanted to invite staff members to the Board Of Education meeting on Monday at 5:00 p.m. in the high school community room to participate in a levy discussion.  The Board will be addressing our financial situation as well as talking about potential levy strategies for the May 6th election.  This next 18 months is a very critical time for the Ravenna School District.  Not just for students, but for staff as well.

I hope everyone has a productive or restful weekend!
