Hello Ravenna Staff:

Welcome back!  I hope this note finds everyone well rested and in good spirits.  I hope that each of you were able to enjoy some time off around the holidays and re-energize for the awesome task that awaits us for the remainder of the school year.

I hope everyone has a restful or productive weekend!

Hello Ravenna Staff:

Thank you in advance for your patience with all of the school closings due to poor weather conditions. Please understand that there may be numerous adjustments as we return to school this week. I would ask that all of us stay flexible and communicative as we all work towards the same goal, success for our students. The semester is coming to a close at the HS and MS and testing is just around the corner for most students. Please work together with all of your colleagues to insure that we can utilize as much instructional time as possible as we prepare our students for the state mandated assessments.

On a separate topic, please make sure that you check multiple sources of information regarding school closings. I sent out the school closing call at 5:55 a.m.this morning and understand that it did not get to some people until as late as 6:50 a.m. Closing school is a very difficult decision and I always consider safety first (students, staff and parents). Have a safe day!

Happy Friday Ravenna Staff:

As we continue to “plow” (pun intended!) through the dead of winter, I would encourage all of us to stay positive and self-motivated.  This is the time when our students and family need us most!  The new, rigorous assessments are just around the corner.  Please continue to stay focused in order to give our students an opportunity to be successful.  We have put many tools and resources in all of your hands to help our students.  Please make the appropriate changes in your instruction to insure that the students have opportunities for the practice tests and are exposed to the information that they will be assessed on.

I hope that everyone has a restful or productive weekend.

Another semester in the books!  Hard to believe that after all of the holidays, snow days and changes to our routines that we are ready for the last four month push.  As hard as it is to get back into the swing of things, I would urge all of us to prepare our students with urgency.  The state assessments are right around the corner!  The district has continued to make academic gains and I am hopeful that we will continue to push forward and continue our success.  I am equally hopeful that we make additional gains in Value Added to the point where we are able to score “A’s” on our District Report Card.  Wouldn’t that be great!

Regardless, thank you for your patience and understanding with the snow days and the make ups that we must all figure out and endure.  Don’t look at the weather but we could be in for another rough weather week!  Stay positive!

Rest well colleagues.
