Happy Friday Ravenna Staff: I would guess that the Friday’s are getting happier as we near the finish line!  Once again, please understand that I do “get it”.  There are a lot of changes and a lot happening on the educational and social front.  We must stay together and continue to make decisions in the best interest of the students, staff, community and our organization.  Our biggest challenges are still ahead of all of us.  Let’s stay proactive, professional and communicative.

I hope everyone has a restful or productive weekend!

Hello Ravenna Staff: Whew!  Another hurdle down!  Testing season is coming to a close!

Although the next several weeks (and actually the rest of the year) will be challenging and full of anxious moments (with students, professionally and personally), I encourage all of us to be true to our profession, colleagues and constituents.  It is very important that we all “finish strong”.

Although the changes and “shrinking pains” we are experiencing professionally and within our district are unfamiliar and at times uncomfortable, please believe that the numerous decisions, initiatives, changes and adjustments that the Ravenna School District will experience in the next several years are not decided upon without much discussion, information and most times anguish.  Change is difficult for all of us.  I do understand that.

Please do not ever hesitate to call or e-mail me if you would like specific information or rationale for a decision.  It is easy to sit back and second guess and throw stones.  It takes a true professional to ask tough questions, have an uncomfortable conversation or accept difficult facts related to change.  PLEASE do not hesitate to ask for additional information.  I understand this process is not easy for anyone (me included).

I will continue to work to be communicative and inform the staff as we all experience change.  I hope that you know by now that my leadership philosophy centers around relationships and proactive communication.  Although we have numerous challenges ahead of us in education, I would encourage all of us to view these challenges as opportunities.  “Perspective” is the key.  Have a great weekend!
