Hello Ravenna Staff:

As the rains continue to spatter off and on, it is hard not to imagine the effects that this devastating weather has had on our community, state and country.  Events like this often serve as a reminder of how delicate and precious our lives and lifestyles are.  It personally nudged me to reflect and put “things” into perspective.  Consider doing the same.

If at all possible, try not to get caught up in the minutia of daily life.  Enjoy and appreciate what we all have.  Try to spend extra time with family and friends this weekend.  These are truly the important “things”.  Rest well!

Happy Friday Ravenna Staff:

And I mean TGIF!  Between the incident at Willyard Elementary School, the “merciful” end of election season and the weather turning and staying cooler (a sure indication that the white stuff is on the way), I can personally tell you  that I am REALLY looking forward to the weekend!

Thank you for all that each of you do for the children of the Ravenna School District!  I hope that each of you has a restful or productive weekend!

Happy Thanksgiving Ravenna Staff!

I hope that all of you have a wonderful, enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday!  We truly all have much to be thankful for.

As a little motivational reminder for the long weekend, I would like to share a few positive movements in our district’s academic success.  First of all, remember that West Main Elementary School (which has an extremely high rate of free and reduced lunch participants) was rated as an excellent school on the report card as a result of exceeding the value added goal for the 2011-12 school year.  Secondly, we just received our third grade fall administration results of the reading OAA and as a district we achieved 60.6%.  In the previous few years, that first administration percentage had been in between 45%-50%.  We do have much to celebrate and be thankful for!

Let’s please continue to work together, collaborate, support and be positive with each other as we move the district forward for the benefit of the entire Ravenna Education Community.

P.S. – Our High School Academic Challenge Team won first place a few weeks ago against Mentor Lake Catholic and Canton South.  Congratulations!

Happy Friday Ravenna Staff!

As we recover from the Thanksgiving Holiday and gear up for Christmas, it is beginning to settle in that another calendar year has gone by.  Where does the time go?  I need to remind myself to prioritize and spend time wisely.  After all, time is the most important commodity that we all have!  I would encourage all of us to do the same.

Rest well and let us finish the last 14 calendar days of school strong!
