Happy Friday Ravenna Staff!

I hope everyone had a great week with their students!  It appears as though we may start to get into fall a little bit next week as we slip at least into the 60’s.

As most of you are probably aware, The Ravenna School District partnered with Community Action Council of Portage County, Kent State and Neomed and received a federal “21st century grant” in the amount of 850K over the next five years.  The grant will provide money for some programs that we already have in existence as well as opportunities for our students to get involved in youth development, mentoring, parent partnerships and it will help us “ramp up” our tutoring programs.  The grant covers middle and high schools at this point and may eventually be coupled with an opportunity at the elementary schools.  We are very excited to extend these opportunities to our children.  I am also happy to be able to report to the community that we are constantly seeking alternative funding sources while we are asking them to support the schools financially.

If you have any questions about this program or any other, please feel free to contact me at any time.  I hope that everyone has a restful or productive weekend!

Hello Ravenna Staff:

Once again, I would like to commend all of you for your tremendous show of compassion and professionalism throughout the week.  Words cannot describe the pain and despair that many of us have felt this week.  Lean on your family, friends and support network.  Please continue to keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.

Several of our schools are making various donations to the family.  Please speak with your building administrators.  The Church of the Nazarene in Ravenna is also accepting donations for the family.

I hope everyone has a restful weekend.

Happy Friday Ravenna Staff!

It seems like these first nine weeks of school have been a whirlwind.  A lot going on in the Ravenna Schools!  From the great news about our academic improvements and successes to the welcoming of over 40 new staff members to the resolution of all three bargaining unit contracts to the stadium project completion to the solicitation of 755K for the stadium and finally to the last push for our 4.9 mill levy campaign.  Just writing these things down makes me want to take a nap!

Please know that I do understand and appreciate all of the hard work and effort that each of you put in.  All of our plates are full.  Let’s continue to stay positive and keep in perspective that all of this work is for the greater good and for children.  What better cause?  Thank you again for all that you do and I hope everyone has a restful or productive weekend!
