Academic and Career Accomplishments

Gina Stikes Shoehalter graduated from Ravenna High School in 1990. While at RHS she was winner of the Katherine M. Francis Womanhood Award, treasurer of the National Honor Society, President of the Freshman class, Captain of the basketball team and accomplished a winning season, leading scorer, leading rebounder and MVP on the basketball team. She attended Kent State University and earned a B.S. in Public Relations. She was president of the Public Relations Student Society of America and a scholarship recipient winner from the National Public Relations Society of America (the first time a KSU public relations student won this national award). She was a journalist for the Daily Kent Stater and was on the Dean’s List. Gina worked as Director of Public Relations for TheLadders.com in New York City where she secured over 50 million media impressions in key consumer outlets. She then became Vice President of Consumer Marketing at Porter Novelli Public Relations, also in NYC. Here she supervised 4 direct reports and managed over a $2 million budget. She became the Public Relations & Marketing Manager at Microsoft, the Account Supervisor at UniWorld Group and Edelman Public Relations, a Communication Specialist at Vanguard Group and an Account Executive with Crawley Haskins Sloan Public Relations. She is currently Director of Public Relations and Marketing at msnbc.com/NBC News in NYC. Gina leads national public relations and brand marketing initiatives for msnbc.com, NBC News’ home on the Internet. She develops the PR strategy and spearheads collaboration with NBC News’ Communication team and NBC’s in-house agency, providing on-air and online support for “Today,” “Nightly News,” “Meet the Press,” “Dateline” and “MSNBC TV.” She manages consumer and corporate media relations and oversees promotions and events that align with the business goals. Gina is married to David Shoehalter, varsity track and field coach at Yale University.
