On Monday, May 16th, 23 seniors in RHS’ Honors Ravenna Civics class presented their capstone projects to fellow students, family members, teachers, district administrators, and community partners. This presentation marked the conclusion of a 3 month long series of internships where students participated in 2 week rotations at the County Treasurer’s office, County Recorder’s office, the Mayor’s office, Reed Memorial Library, and the Portage Metropolitan Housing Authority. This immersive, experiential learning partnership with community organizations taught the seniors how local offices impact and support our area by having students participate in essential daily activities; on Monday they completed their internships with a capstone presentation that covered those experiences.
