West Main Elementary Receives Grant to Purchase Technology for Visual Arts Program

Mar 17, 2022

The West Main Elementary Visual Arts program received a $1000 grant from the United Way Giving Well Family Foundation Grant in 2020.  With the addition of technology in nearly every aspect of student’s lives, West Main Elementary art teacher, Theresa Roosa-Swain, wanted to add more opportunities for the use of technology within their arts program.  Utilizing the funding offered with this grant, the district was able to purchase six iPads, cases and a large carrying/charging case.  The students have since begun creating digital artworks, utilizing programs and apps to manipulate photos, as well as working with coding programs. The iPads have also been used for research and music classes as well.

Since West Main Elementary Visual Arts received this grant, we have been able to purchase two additional iPads with cases and eight Apple Pencils to accompany the digital art creations that students are making utilizing these amazing tools!
