Don R. Nottingham graduated from Ravenna High School in 1967 after earning 3 letters in football and 3 letters in wrestling. He was an All-Metro first team pick in both his junior and senior seasons and was the Akron Beacon Journal Player of The Year following his senior campaign. “Notts” attended Kent State University and was a three year letterman for the Flashes and captain of the 1970 team. He earned All-MAC honors in his junior and senior seasons and rushed for more than 2,500 yards in his collegiate career. Don was inducted into the Kent’s Varsity “K” Hall of Fame in 1982 and was also inducted into the Portage County Hall of Fame. He was a 17th round draft pick of the Baltimore Colts and played parts of three seasons for the Colts (1971-73) before being traded to the Miami Dolphins where he played until 1978. Nicknamed “The Human Bowling Ball” because of his low-to-the-ground punishing running style, Don rushed for nearly 3,000 yards and scored more than 30 touchdowns as a Pro. “Notts” was a durable player with great enthusiasm for the game. He was Past President and is now on the Executive Board of the NFL Alumni Association-Miami Dolphin Chapter. Don and his wife Nancy live in Florida with their children D.J., Randi and Laura. He is now the Managing Agent for AG International Agency, Inc. and holds the CIC, CLU and ChFC designations.
