Robert “Yank” Heisler, Jr.

Athletic Accomplishments

At the outset, it should be noted that Robert “Yank” Heisler, Jr. is one of those unique individuals who would, indeed, have been inducted into the Ravenna Ravens’ Hall of Fame in more than one category of accomplishments. Specifically, “Yank” is hereby inducted into the Hall of Fame for his athletic accomplishments, which included winning back-to-back State AAA Championships in Golf in 1964/65 and 1965/66. This outstanding athlete lettered in Varsity Golf, Basketball and Football. Yank was a standout in the classroom and among his classmates. Yank graduated as Salutatorian of the class of 1966, with a 3.955 GPA and the distinction of being Class President as a sophomore, junior and senior. Yank moved from the hallways of Ravenna High School to the hallowed hallways of Harvard College where he graduated cum laude in 1970 with a B.A. in Bio Chem Sciences. In 1974, Kent State University awarded an M.B.A. to this Beta Gamma Sigma honorary student. This life-long learner and now Senior Executive Vice-President of Society National Bank, Cleveland, Ohio, fills his days managing eight (8) district banks with 138 branches and 1,500 staff members, as a loving husband and father to four children and as a member and/or chairman to numerous volunteer, charity and philanthropic groups. It can truly be said that Yank achieved greatness as an athlete at Ravenna High School but it is equally true that he achieved greatness in academic and business circles as well.
