Principal’s Message

I wish to take this opportunity to welcome all BMS families to another school year. It is wonderful to have all of our students back for in-person instruction. During the pandemic school year of 2020-21, we all did our best to navigate a new world created by the Covid-19 global pandemic. We are pleased to have students back to full in-person learning for the 2021-22 school year.

Please know that we are, as always, focused on our mission at Brown Middle School which is to provide our students with a memorable and rewarding middle school experience. We will strive daily to make an academic and extracurricular program that is worthy of our students, their families, and the Ravenna community. We expect our students to take pride in their school and to be productive members of their community.

In addition to their regular academic studies, our students will continue to be exposed to Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons through our ongoing partnership with the Mayerson Academy of Cincinnati, OH. Now more than ever, the need for this type of learning is evident. Through their SEL exploration, our students learn more about themselves and the character strengths that they possess and exhibit in their daily lives both at school and around the community. This Social and Emotional instruction, and the skills derived from it, can help our students to focus on the positives in their lives, and can also help them navigate the emotional stress oftentimes associated with the middle school years.

Please never hesitate to reach out to me at Brown if you ever have any questions or concerns. Again, welcome back to another school year, and on behalf of the BMS staff, we are honored with the privilege of serving the families of Ravenna!

Sincerely,

Jonathan C. Lane, Principal
