Jonathan Matthew Floyd

Special Honorary Achievement

Since his birth in 1975, Jonathan Matthew Floyd has been impacted by positive influences. Devoted parents Herb and Marilyn Floyd provided opportunities that helped Jonathan reach goals that seemed unattainable. Encouragement remains ongoing as he is supported by brothers Mark, Ron, and Matt Simone, as well as their families. Jonathan began his academic career at Happy Day School in Kent, Ohio. Ravenna schools welcomed him in 1982 when he transferred to West Main Elementary at the age of seven. He attended Brown Middle School and Ravenna High School before graduating in 1994.

Following graduation he was employed by Davey Tree in Kent, Ohio. From 1995-2004 he worked for Quality Solutions of Hudson, Ohio. Since 2005 he has been employed by Marc’s in Aurora and in Ravenna. Ravenna is definitely home to Jonathan. He has proudly served his community in countless ways. This involvement in community was recognized in 1995 when he received The President’s Youth Service Award from President Bill Clinton. In 1997, he became the Activities Coordinator at the First Congregational Church, Ravenna, where he is an active member and remains in that position to this day. Jonathan served on a committee to plan Chestnut Hills Park.

Jonathan has volunteered at the Loaves and Fishes program at the Methodist Church. His service has also found him at the Salvation Army and the Ravenna Athletic Center. He has discovered being a keynote speaker at the Ravenna Kiwanis Club, Rootstown Middle School and the Pegasus Farm Annual Gala especially rewarding. His desire to serve others has stretched beyond the Ravenna Area. He has joined week long work camps with volunteers from the Federated Church of Chagrin Falls. Trips to North Carolina, Maine, Michigan and the Saugeen Indian Reservation, Ontario, Canada have allowed him to help people who are often overlooked. Psalm 31:24 is a scripture that motivates Jonathan. It says, “Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.” Jonathan has taken that verse to heart and has lived a life of consequence. Glory to God!
